Finite Yet Unbounded Sky

Yesterday I looked up at the sky.

For an instant, I felt like I could fall up.

Nothing to catch me but infinity.

I love the rain

I love the rain.

Its yet another force of nature,
that whether you love it or hate it
it connects us all at the moment
through a shared experience.

Just like a full moon
in which we can all look up to the sky
and stare in wonder,
knowing that were not alone
in our awe at the world.

I love the rain.

Pondering on History Books

These thoughts came to me while reading Amazon reviews on an American history book that cought my eye at a Borders. The name of the book is "A Patriot's History of the United States: From Columbus's Great Discovery to the War on Terror".

I'm very disappointed to come to the realization that even history books are biased. Which is understandable but nonetheless very disappointing. Seriously, cant a guy just read an objective book on the history of the American people? It seems that something is always either too "liberal" or too "conservative". I believe that this is mostly because history authors either include or exclude events and information to fit to there world view. Its hard to get the full story.

So I wonder, if the previous is true, then how can you ever be sure to have made the correct judgment on history solely based on INCOMPLETE (biased?) facts? I dont think one can.

The More I Learn

The more i learn, the more i start thinking. The more i think, the more i think about thinking. The more i think about thinking, the more i wonder why i think the way i think.

The more i think about the way i think, i realize that my beliefs, thoughts and actions are all largely defined by economic, geographic, biological, cultural and social constraints. So the more i think about thinking, the more the concept of "free will" seems like a joke to me, in the grand scheme of things; A mere fragment of our individual and collective imaginations.

So i wonder, are things like love and friendship a lie? Another mere beautiful illusion of our existence. Are they yet another biologically predisposed thought process that formed in our brains in order for our species to survive? It may be…but what a nice lie it is, isn’t it.

Things i thought about while reading my anthropology text book.
